Dairy Gold Sahiwal began in 1998 with one simple idea: if we want ghee we can trust, we have to make it from milk we can trust.
So we do not buy milk from collectors or middlemen. We raise our own cows on our own farm in Sahiwal, in the heart of Punjab’s dairy country, and turn their milk into pure desi ghee ourselves. From the fodder our cows eat to the lid on your jar, every step is in our hands.
Our cows live in open, shaded sheds with big cooling fans that keep them comfortable through the hot Punjab summer. They are fed fresh fodder every day, have clean water at all times and are looked after by people who have worked with cattle all their lives.
Hygiene starts at milking. Our cows are milked with modern milking machines in a tiled parlour that is washed down after every session. The milk travels through closed lines, so it stays clean from the cow to the cream.
The cream from our milk is churned into makhan and slowly simmered in small batches until it turns golden and gives off that unmistakable desi ghee aroma. No banaspati, no palm oil, no colours and no preservatives. Just one ingredient.

Heat a teaspoon of ghee in a pan. Pure ghee melts right away and turns a deep golden brown. If it melts slowly or stays pale yellow, it may be mixed.

Place a little ghee on your palm. Pure ghee starts melting from body heat within moments and leaves a clean, rich smell.

Melt some ghee in a glass and keep it in the fridge. Pure ghee sets evenly. Separate layers can mean another oil has been added.

Real desi ghee has the warm, nutty aroma you remember from home. Mixed ghee smells flat, oily or of nothing at all.
